Privacy Policy

The short version. This app has no accounts and no sign-in. Your test results stay on your device and are never uploaded to us. We do not run analytics and we do not build a profile of you. The app is supported by ads, and the ad network does collect data — that part is described in full below.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains how the Android application Internet Speed Test & Ping (“the app”) handles information. It applies to the app only, not to any website or service you reach from it.

2. What we do not collect

The app does not ask for, and the developer never receives:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials — there is no sign-up.
  • Your contacts, photos, files, camera, microphone, or calendar.
  • GPS or precise device location. The app requests no location permission.
  • Your browsing history or the contents of your network traffic.

The developer operates no server and no database. There is nowhere for your results to be sent to.

3. What happens when you run a speed test

Measuring a connection means using it, so running a test necessarily involves third-party servers. Two are contacted:

Your IP address and standard connection metadata, as with any website you visit. The data transferred is meaningless filler generated for the measurement.
ipapi.co Looks up the public IP address, internet provider and approximate city/country shown alongside your result, so the reading has context. Your IP address, which is what it resolves.

These lookups are performed by your device, directly against those services, under their own privacy policies: Cloudflare and ipapi.co. The provider name shown in your results is a fact about your own connection, reported back to you and to no one else.

4. What is stored on your device

The following is kept in the app's private storage on your phone. It is not transmitted:

  • Test history — download speed, upload speed, ping, jitter, the time of the test, and the IP, provider, location and connection type recorded with it.
  • Your settings — the light/dark theme choice.
  • Home screen widget data — the latest download, upload and ping figures, so the widget can display them.

You can erase all of it at any time with Settings → Clear history, or by uninstalling the app, which removes the app's storage entirely.

5. Advertising

The app is free and is funded by advertising served through Google AdMob. AdMob is an independent controller of the data it collects and is not operated by the developer.

To serve and measure ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect and process:

  • Your device's advertising identifier and, on newer Android versions, the ad services signals that replace it.
  • IP address, device model, operating system version, language and coarse region.
  • Which ads were shown, viewed or tapped, for reporting and fraud prevention.

What Google does with that data is governed by its own terms:

You can limit ad personalisation in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by manufacturer), where you may also delete or reset your advertising ID. Where the law requires it — for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — a consent form is presented before personalised ads are shown, and your choice is respected. Declining does not restrict any feature of the app.

6. Permissions the app requests

No other permission is declared. The app asks for no location, storage, contacts, camera or microphone access.

7. Children

The app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will act on it.

8. Data retention

Because your results never leave your device, retention is entirely in your hands: the history persists until you clear it or uninstall the app. Data held by Cloudflare, ipapi.co and Google is retained under their own policies, linked above.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in the European Economic Area and the CCPA/CPRA in California — you have rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection over personal data held about you.

The developer holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing on our side to access or delete; clearing the history or uninstalling the app removes everything the app stores. For data held by the third parties named above, please exercise those rights directly with them using the links provided. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under Californian law.

10. Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's store listing.
